John Wayne vs Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris vs Jackie Chan, Bill Murray vs Adam Sandler, The Beach Boys vs The Beatles, George Strait vs Garth Brooks, The Carpenters vs Andy Williams, Marth vs Harmon.
There has been a funny battle between two of Marquette’s history teachers, Mr. Marth and Mr. Harmon, that has drawn out for almost three years.
The two act like each other, dress like each other, and they even have some of the same interests. But they both also have their differences.
A lot of students believe that Mr. Marth tries to act like Mr. Harmon by dressing like him and trying to have a similar personality. “I dress the way I do because when I started teaching I noticed that I got treated differently when I dressed professionally,” Mr. Marth stated.
Mr. Marth and Mr. Harmon actually spend time together. They play fantasy sports, they have the same lunch period, they taught summer PE together, and they even went to a history conference together.
“The reason I look up to Mr. Harmon is because he is taller than me,” Mr. Marth stated.
Mr. Harmon hasn’t noticed Mr. Marth acting like him or looking up to him. “Mr. Marth is an awesome guy, we get along great in school. When we taught summer PE together we had a lot of fun with it, and he is all around a great dude,” Mr. Harmon stated. “Mr. Marth and I both like a lot of the same things and have similar beliefs on life, the world, and whatever else,” he added.
Both of them being History teachers also gives them a weird connection in ways that connect their thinking.
The both of them also have lots of differences, such as Mr. Harmon having the favorite soda of Diet Pepsi, while Mr. Marth likes Mountain Dew. Another difference is that Mr. Harmon likes soccer, while Mr. Marth is not a fan of the sport. An educational difference between Mr. Marth and Mr. Harmon is that Mr. Marth has been teaching history at Marquette for three years, while Mr. Harmon has been doing it for ten years.
Both of them are great teachers and people in general, and they both make students want to take their class and pay attention.
