The Marquette Catholic Theatre Department is putting together its annual fall play: Sally Cotter and Censored Stone! With auditions having taken place on September 9th and September 11th, respectively, the cast has been composed and the ball is rolling in preparation for the play. While The Marquette Gazette is not able to tell you the dates the play is running on (further knowledge will be provided at the earliest convenience), background information about the play can be provided.
General background information about the play includes how the play debuted at St. Margaret Mary’s down in Florida on October 30th, 2009. The play was penned by Dean O’Carroll.
To briefly summarize the plot: Sally Cotter and the Censored Stone is a parody of the popular Harry Potter series. The main character, Sally Cotter (a play on Harry Potter), falls asleep while reading a Harry Potter book. From here, her dream begins. Now, she is a student at Frogbull Academy of Sorcery (Hogwarts). In her dream, she goes on an adventure with characters Dave (Ron Weasley) and Harmonica (Hermoine Granger) to take down Lord Murderdeath (Lord Voldemort). Other characters Sally will encounter include Headmistress Albatross Underdrawers, Ruebenon Ryebread, and Professor Shfita Shape.
