We Got Spirit!

It was 2 pm on a Friday afternoon. Each class began to get called down into the gym. As I walked down getting closer to the gym, I could already hear the roaring, cheering, and loud music. I knew that this would be an unforgettable pep rally. The cheering grew louder and louder as I turned the corner. The bleachers were overflowed with students who were filled with their school pride. As I walked past the mob of students, an ocean of blue and white, as I was seeing this, I spotted my friends, and I quickly sat next to them.

What makes a school have great school spirit? A lot of things make a school have great school spirit some of which include pep rallies, community, retreats, and winning. Pep rallies are key in building a great school spirit. The pep rallies at Marquette make the school have a great school spirit from the chants to the roaring student sections. Community is another place where students from each gather in an assigned class to practice faith formations, celebrate mass, and to have fun with each other. This environment of being in community with other students from certain grades makes students become more outgoing and confident within themselves. Retreats are when each grade goes to an assigned place to do service work without any distractions. It’s when we do kind acts of service to offer them up to God. Lastly is winning; each community competes against one another to win points or prizes for their community. This teaches students to learn competitive skills, which leads to students having great school spirit.

Are you involved with the school spirit? When having school spirit, you should always support your school by wearing your colors, cheer loudly, and attend games. Wearing your colors plays a big part in having good school spirit, you should always wear blue or white when there’s a pep rally! Next is to cheer loudly, you should always
cheer loudly at games and pep rallies. This shows that you really have good school spirit and that you’re passionate towards your school. Lastly is to attend games. When you attend games, it shows the athletes of your school that your really care and that you have the school spirit.
